I have this DVD and it is pretty good. Gives you Ideas on how to start a track and shows you the MPC's basics.

that DVD stinks homie........the only thing i like about the CD is that it shows a lot of gear(not usage of it,just the gear)...

but for someone new to this it gives them some ideas. It shows them in the middle how to sequence a track, gives you some Ideas about software, and what is out there.

i guess you are right about that.....

Last week I picked up the scratch academy semester one dvd, its got an intresting section on beat making where they interview evil dee and primo. They both share how they got started and some approaches to making beats. Its more intresting to see how those guys think about it than as a tutorial in beat making though.

yo i have that dvd....i was a bit disappointed

it was mad cheesy - but for a complete newjack like myself it did give me somewhat of a window into what was involved in the process......but yo what was up with the super wack acronym?!?! F.R.E.S.H.?!?!?!?

F = Finding Source Material
R = Recording Samples
E = Evolving Samples (Assign to pads layering etc)
S = Sequencing ?
H = Hard disk mixdown


Im prob wrong on one of those, its pretty good acronym I guess since I did remember it, but It didn't help me at all

I guess its good for people who just want to see someone else pound on some gear and watch how he layers out his beats

Yeah I wouldn't really concentrate on it that much. Yo that Fresh. That was mad corny. But It shows a person who has no clue what is out there. Its good to see some basics like that. But as for videos about makin beats, I can't even think of any ones. I think sample kings has one. You gotta just bang on the pads till you get your own technique and style.

that video sucks but someone will buy it on ebay, that's where my copy is going. I emailed sample kings about the video for the 1000 they have video's for all other model and there were popup ads for the mpc 1000 version. But I didn't see it. I found out more stuff by trial and error tweak this tweak that see what happens- peace
