Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000
By Roopesh Sun Feb 22, 2004 6:50 pm
i have heard from other forums that the 4000 has a delay when switching from 1 sequence to another.

is this true???

ime going to be using the 4000 (when i buy it) as a percussion machine only. i plan to take 4-8 bar loops into my Logic audio setup.

will this delay affect me?

later down the line i shall use the 4k for many other uses, such as a sampler, and as midi sequencer to compliment Logic audio on my mac.

Yep. I am to blame for those posts on DPS and yahoo (I'm everywhere!). Though I havent checked after setting reset qlink to off I am pretty sure that was it.
Sorry! ;)

well nah...for me nothing beats the overall instrumentation capabilities of a software sequencer setup. i have my environment page linked up for all my sound modules, keyboard, and soon the 4k all within in logic.

MPC = Drums
Logic = Sequencer

= Killer Combo.

Aint you the one with the 2000xl, and never got it workin.

never got it workin??? hmm youre really suspect.. lol when did I not get the shit workin??? Im upgradin because of some circumtances and my xl dont have effects board hence only lp filter. Getting a 4000 is logical because Im tryin to not use my pc as much as for layering and shit.

Hah you keep askin about mpc you faker!!!!! Why not just stick with fruity you godamn flowers

Love to see you make Full Blown productions on your MPC then. if what i hear on Soundclick rings a bell, then thats all i have to say.

and look...i really dont wanna start.

infact ime glad you are getting a 4k. the LP must have left you miles back. seeing that most pros use BP and HP too on certain percussive sounds.

as for Fruity, theres nothing wrong with that program. i have FL 4 on my PC and Logic Platinum 6 on my G4 Mac. Ime also currenty using my mpc 1000 too, but only for beats, its midi capabilites lack compared to the big money software world.

Some of my fav producers like Eddie F (Producer of Donell Jones) uses Logic for sequencing his midi and audio, and his MPC 3000 for drums.

i would use FL anytime, its tight, when you put it through £2000's worth of WAVES plugins. the 1000 is nice too. but with the 4k i can get even more creative.

you see, i have never limited my self to one tool. i have experimented with many software apps and hardware. so i know the pros and cons.

hope you can appreciate that.

i tried out the 4k last week, it was wicked.

the sound was phat, but quite clean and warm, the sampler filters were excellent, and the HP on the hi hats was amazing (very smooth, as some Hp filters can cause clippin).

the pads were nice too, although the 2kxl were more bouncier, but then that could just be me.

so shyda, what colour are you going for, the classic 4k or the new blue one?

let us know mate.

Im feelin the white 4k wit black pads that's my pick! :P Which one u feelin Roopesh?
