mic pre-amp debate

you guys got so much knowledge i know you will led me in the right direction.I have no idea about preamps but im learning as I go.Cool edit and cubase(will be getting soon) both have effects,filters, compressors, gates and all that so i dont think i need to buy a preamp that comes with all that stuff included cuz i could just do the damn thing with my software str8 up.but after doing alittle research this pre amp looks like its pretty good, what do you guys think?

is dbx a bad brand, could someone suggest something better for cheaper, what do you guys use?


the mic im going to be working with is either a rode nt1000 or a at4040,im not looking for a colorful feel, i want str8 up crisp warm flatness, holla back

plus... i usually always use the full level function on my 2kxl but when i use my keyboard(for melodies n ish)i cant do that so it would be nice to run ssounds from my beats thru the preamp to give them a more official sound before they get multitracked and that would be really nice too.

yo just got back from the store,

they have one of these for 120 bucks on sale and they only have one.and its the one they used on the sales floor but it still have the same warranty and everything so hey i think i should get it.they just put that one down because they are overstocked and want to get rid of it fast,its a hard deal to pass up but i wanted to check wit ya before i copped it...check it out...

its being sold for 500 everywhere, even at the store but they are just trying to get rid of it so tthey marked it down to 120, they said if u want it get it now because its going to go fast.
