I thought I had to get a MPC-3000 to get the drums to Hit right.....but having a nicer board, that responded better to overloading than my Mackie did, made a big difference. That was using the 1000.

Interesting. I just tested the two in my "studio" with the same board (internal Multiface) and i could tell a difference in the sound and dare i say feel. then again many people mistake a difference in feel with a difference in sound. meaning, better sounding drums on the 3000 will feel like they are timed better.

and jwhatt....since you have the 2000, how do you make a sound cancel itself...meaning, when I play a sound in succession, right now, it just overlaps, but I want it to cut itself off....

I know cats that have like 5 drum machines! But actually, I was without my 3k for a while and needed an MPC for some pre production work so I got myself the 1k. Never ended up selling any of them. Up until now, I was using my 1k because of the convinient features but after this listening test, I might go back to the 3k. I also enjoy the 3 K workflow much more than the 1K. Not as many menu/window button/shift.... i chop in the computer and dont really use the effects on the 1k. the one BIG thing I will miss in the 1k is the multiple program option. How do i get around this? load up all my sounds onto memory in my 3K and then just save a new program with all the samples i need.

about the overlaping sample. I think you go into program and then in the program parameters page change the setting from poly to mono. i might be wrong but try it out...

I just recorded a loop/sample using the 3000 and 2500. Let me know if you want to hear the difference..which I feel is very minimal.
