I'm confused and misconscrewed

As ya'll know I have a dr-880......I've been making beats for about 6 months and I have 70 somethin of them.But I notice in all beatmaking videos,ya'll start of with the kick drum,add a snare,hi-hat,etc. and I notice ya'll do this with a thing called a metronome.I also notice you guys always start off with a 4 bar loop and my drum machine automatically gives me a 4 bar loop to work with when I open up a new sequence.My drum machine does not have a metronome,so sometimes its not easy.Please tell me what I should do to like compose the drums in the "common" way.For instance what I've did is like start with a simple kick and clap i.e. kick, clap, kick, kick, clap.I would do that in realtime for about 3 bars and copy and paste the best one to start my 4 bar loop and then I would start adding hi-hats and all that hoopla.Just want to know how I should compose these drums,its something about copying and pasting that I NEVER see in the videos.Also if you look at your "ctrl" key on your computer keyboard,thats how big my pads are or your "tab" key.With the MPC you got big gray pads so you never mess up or anything, maybe its just me with the "messing up" thing,but please help.Again I do NOT have a metronome. If you are confused with what I'm saying,check like all beatmaking videos with a MPC lol. "Jacpots" video is a good example of what I'm talking about.Sorry for the long post.

thats the difference between the dr880 and the mpc.

i've worked with these types of drum machines and its not easy to get a good sounding drum pattern. if you really need a metronome then i think you can download a metronome or something to keep you in place.

those with the mpc dont have to copy and paste the drums. just bang them out track by track. why would you be watching MPC beat making videos if you're using a dr880?? two totally different machines. you're not helping yourself by watching videos on the mpc! we have a different machine man. you should either watch some videos on the machine you have or buy an mpc.

I remember seeing one on youtube awhile back. Do you really want an mpc? Cause if i get another one in stock i'd work out some type of trade with you. It would be an mpc2000 though. So if that sparks your interest let me know.

What in the hell are u talking about? All i said was I remember seeing an video on youtube b/c u said u didnt see ne videos of people using an DR-880. Where i work has nothing to do with if u want an mpc2000 or not. I have been saleing gear for sometime now. Plus i have a job that pays me by the hour. But ima let u be a grown man then cause i have offered my help and u dont seem to want it. This makes my second time. I give up. You jump to conclusions to much or maybe u didnt read what i posted.

You sure there's no click available on that machine? If not program that first. I'm sure there's some kind of step mode. all you need os to program your click once - make it a 4 or 8 bar loop (I prefer 16 or 32) and save it as a template.

OK...I couldn't believe there's no metronome, so I just had to look up the manual online....short version - There IS a metronome. See page 53 & 123 to understand how to use both the metronome and add a click intro....if you dont have the manual - get it, it's on line.

damn.

Anything that deals with "a mechanical rhythm", has some sort of click or metronome to follow. And Nicole, not to infringe or anything of that nature, but the way you spell your "SELLING" (as SALEING), bugs the hell out of me (of course, it may be a southern thang). But I know, I don't have the right to complain...we're "deeling wit da wurl of eboniks now-a-dais".

Could somebody please explain me what misconscrewed means? Is it contagious?
