This is the second time I visit the forums today. The first time I came looking for info about change tempo events, as they didnt seem to do what they were supposed to do: they didnt change tempo.

I kept trying on the MPC, moving the event trying to see if the timing (on beat? just before beat? during the beat?) would do the trick and actually change the tempo. Nope.

Then at one point when I pushed Play to hear the sequence, totally out of nowhere the MPC said it was loading samples, an lo'a'behold, it really did load samples. And sequences.

So it was bye-bye to this evenings work ... which I cannot reproduce. Replaced by some older stuff loaded from CF card.

There were some starting points for some nice tunes there in this evenings work, but of course no one but me will care.

But this got me thinking about what could be the trouble with the OS (got the latest 1.22).

So there are these folder problems. People seem to rely upon magic cantantations, like following certain order in creating and saving stuff on the CF card. May work or may not work.

I havent followed that magic. If that is the reason for today f***up, then the sequences, actually all the data on the CF card, may be corrupt. Would that be the case, then a new OS would not fix the data on the CF card.

Meaning that I might as well wait until a new OS becomes available and someone around here reports that it is ok to use, doesnt corrupt your data. No using the MPC before that, because I would in any case need to reformat all the data - sequences, samples - the buggy OS has created.

So the MPC has a real-time OS that cr*** its data structures, and the data structures are not tight in a sense that they would immediately fail but instead allow errors to build in until eventually, something pretty unexpected and unwelcome happens. No need to say that these kinds of bugs are notoriously hard to pin down, thats pretty evident as the fix hasnt been readily forthcoming.

Count me in the whining&moaning choir. When's the next gig? :)

Do searches in this forum for the answers to your questions. There are solutions that solve your dilema much better than a cantantion. Like any machine there is a way you go about things. those who do rarely have problems. Use that energy to search for the answers here and you wont be disappointed. Thats not to say that some of what your are going through could have been better handled by Akai but yet once you find the answers your complaints will fall to a minimum.

Yeah, 2500 and me are friends again.

Formatted the CF card, will create new folder start of every session, and dump the whole memory into that folder and never overwrite files.

I guess as with any relationship there are the rough patches to get over. It remains the most inspiring and creative box that I've met and yes sir! tonite we did some magic together again.
