Yea...alotta kats use 4 measures...I think thats for newb's personally! My thing with songs is that, you never wanna bore the listener. To me, you can't have much of a song with 2-4 measures...That loop would drive you CRAZY! That is unless you plan on using 8-10 sequences...I like to make complete songs...

Yo Jackpot Ive been meaning to get at ya bout chopping. Say you hada a sample that you want to use in its entirety .Its 4 bars. How many pads or zones would you chop it to .

Not really if u know what u doing. Its called building as u go in my opinion. I use 4 bar loops but when im done my song comes out to be around 84-90 bars. Its completed in song mode drops and everything in it so all i gotta do is two track it to my recorder or track it out individually. Now aint that something i start with 4 bars and end up with an complete song that has drops and sh*t and aint a big loop. Gotta Love It!!

Thats jus me tho...8 measure jus makes me feel like its a TRUE completed loop..but I'm a different type of producer i guess...

Yep but when u think about it. How will the listener know what u started with if the finished product is an complete song?(a real complete song that is). I respect your way of producing though. Keep grindin baby.

your absolutely right

i was getting it confused with the 99 sequences you can use. but yeah 64 is more than enough ive never came close to that personally

each to his own, i dont even make hiphop beats, but i still get all my elements on seperate tracks so when i play them out life, i have more control over what sounds i have playing at any 1 given time. even some of my midi sequences, say baselines, ill break up into 3 layers tracks, so that i can add more variation and build that pattern up as i go. i think the XL forums just need a bit of colour.

Thats what I do every day almost...
Go digging than make beats I dont realy do too much else...

99% of the time I seperate sounds to... Just starting convo

By tracking out your samples into a DAW you can eq, filter or process each track seperately without affecting other tracks. You can eq each tracks to "perfection" (or whatever your version of perfection is).

But your tracks dont need to be seperated to do that Lamp

I thought you knew this already Jac. You are right though, many beginners just read and hear about this all the time and don't really grasp the concept I think. Just jump on the bandwagon cause they see it so much, sorta like the "quality of sound issues"....
