If you own a studio, shouldnt you know what IS, and ISNT good?
I just wanted to clear that up.

Do you have a website for your studio?

Please let me know if you have a number I can reach you at. I am always looking for a good studio.

maybe i reading this wrong but how do you have 40,000 dollars of plugins but only the mbox....and since you didnt say you are using mac.....i have to ask you this quesiton "How can you have that many plugins when the Pc side of plugins are really limited and at this point waves are the best and the plati. plackage only cost 1700 and i cant remember any othr package costing that much so correct me if im wrong.

Before anything else I'd upgrade that MBox to at least a Digi002 rack but if you plan on opening up to the public I'd seriously look into an HD setup.

But to answer what I think was your original question, I would suggest recording dry into Pro Tools and adding fx in PT. Any fx or changes you make to the material before tracking can't be undone. However, I would also suggest investing in some high end front end equipment, preamps, compressors and eq's(it sounds like you can afford it) to run everything through to really make your tracks shine.

OK first of all you need to check out some of the prices on these plug-ins. I use os9 and osx.. i don't use most of that consumer plug-ins like some of you... to be honest with you I have not even seen all the plug-ins on our computer because we have have so much.. And like I said were not ready for the public actually we are but not to our needs.... and if i'm going to get rid of my M-box why should i get the digi02, when i have 4 DA88's and a ALIESE 24 hard-drive... only thing i need to make me happy is my Tape machine that is coming this summer... there are three partners in this myself and two of my friends.. Myself i'm more of the artist/producer.. my other friend went to berkley collage of music and became a recording engineer.. and the other guy had the studio to begin with and we just came together... we are not offical but we will be so in the mean time so you don't get confused its a project studio with pro gear... My bad if i came across wrong.. See i heard some people say that most professianl studios will always have an MPC device or a triton well their wrong.. most pro studios just have the top quality ish to record you, and sometimes they my have an mpc or some guitars and stuff but you walk into a major studio and you will be surprised.. for all those who really been a pro studio you will understand what i'm talking about.... thanks for people who helped

I would think your engineer friend would have the answers to your questions.

word....i know what you mean......last year i went to this pro studio that had no instruments.....no samplers....nothing but a big a$$ board, mics, preamps and compressors...they told us if we needed anything they would rent it for us and charge a fee for renting it......i laughed and said " we str8"....but it was an amazing studio though....i am more comfortable in a home studio......

well my engineer friend can't always show me things when he's not there.. anyways i was talking about the mpc to begin with.. i'm new to this mpc and i love it so far probaly the best piece of gear i worked with.. but when it comes to being a pro engineer even an mpc can seem brand new.. like i said go to a pro studio and you will be surprised when you don't see your mpc.. you have to bring your own... so why would i ask my engineer friend what to do if he never even used one before and further more not know what the hell it does.. all i wanted to know was when some of you like to put in effects i know what i like.. i just like to hear other peoples opinions... peace

well.......run everything from the mpc dry thru the outs(8 outs?) and into PT then take it from there......and eq (1st) then add effects(2nd) and then eq again(3rd).....good luck homie!

Touchy.

I've been to quite a few pro studios, some have em', some don't.

Your original question didn't pertain to MPC operations but asked for advice on tracking your MPC tracks in PT.

Back to the whole mpc and pro studio thing, I think I might know what people are talking about. Ok, you have you "pro" recording studio, a place to "record" and "master" your tracks. Then you have professional musicians, that have a project studio set up at home, or in addition to their recording studio, if they are a producer as well. Now, what people are saying, is that most of the time, if a professional musician is producing his own electronic tracks, the chances are, you will see one of the two machines. I have read in way too many articles about musicians gear, and their set up to argue otherwise. Recording studio, "recording"
Project studio, "production"
