Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I did different searches and read the manual but Im not sure whats the name for this. Can you somehow set the pads on the mpc2kxl that every time you hit a pad, it stops the earlier sound you hit?

Yeah you can...

If you want to set the options so that you stop the same sound when you hit the pad again, you need to set the option from poly to mono in the program screen I think.

If you hit the open screen button on that option you can set another pad to stop when hit the pad you're assigning.

Thanks that helped a lot.

But is there a way that every sound stops each other?

Actually i believe if you use the param. options theres a way to have one pad mute another. you just have to assign the pad to which one you would like it to mute.

Yea...I needed to kno the same ?

Changing poly to mono only works for ONE pad...i can tap the one pad all day and it'll repeat but the other pads will clutter! Maybe it is in the param...maybe we gotta hit open window or somthin'...

I would just use NOTE OFF for such a broad spectrum of muting, since you wanna just play one sound at a time anyway just hold the pads down.

no what he's asking is to have each pad shut off an oppsoite pad. the answer to this is yes and no, you can have 1 pad shut of 2 other pads (called mute off) to do this highlight the param that is mono, poly, or noteoff (can be set to any of those) and hit open window. then it will say mutes off pad --- select the first pad you wanna shut off then the second.
kinda like when you layer a pad.
thats as close to what your saying as you can get.
