2000XL Setup

whats up.. i'm trying to figure out what way to go with a setup.. i plan on purchasing the 2000XL (MCD), and making it my main piece of equipment.. but I have a few questions about some of the equipment..

Studio Monitors - Alesis Monitor 1 MKII or KRK Rokit's
Probably going to get Numark or Stanton turntable / DJ Mixer / carthridge


but here's what i'm having trouble with...:

i'm not sure about what audio interface I should get, so I can track out the beats into (pro-tools perferably)

Also, should I get a mixer, (if needed)? Or is working in the MPC enough to have everything sounding right

what cables would you recommend?



& I know theres a few things that can accompany the 2000XL such as the MFC42 or the S1000... I want to know if any of these are worth getting/using

i just noticed in Jacpot's video "the making of why" that theres no dj mixer, but the Behringer Eurorack UB1202.. unless its hiding does that mean I can just use the same mixer for the turntable instead of having to buy a seperate dj mixer? im sorry, im new to this so please dont shit on me.. lol

i got a pair fo rokit rp5's and there nice. cant say what the speaker is because i dont kno. if your going protools they have there own interfaces that come with the protools program and you cant use any other interface with protools software unless your using the protools/m-audio version (cant remember the name i think its m-powered?)which u can only use m-audio (or protools) interfaces. it never hurts to have a mixer but think about how your going to use it in your set up b4 u just go and get one.

what would you recommend i'd get now thats cheap for a interface for the XL?
i'll invest in a digidesign product later on when the money is good.. i always had a problem trying to figure which interface to get

well that all depends on how your recording. if youve got the 8 outs on the mpc than i would suggest that you get a soundcard that has 8 inputs. for instance ive got a delta 10/10 which is 10 in/10out and it has the midi. whatever soundcard (interface) you get make sure its got midi cause you never kno when youll need it which leads to the second option: if you dont have the 8 outs on the mpc and want to go a simpler route than any soundcard with inputs and midi will do. doesnt have to have 8 inputs although it would help if you had other outboard gear (kepboard, synth, etc). if you take the simple route youll only be able to record from your stereo outputs on the mpc and you wont be able to break your tracks up UNLESS you record midi which you would have to sync everything up and record your tracks one by one. ive never recorded like that but ive seen it done so i couldnt really tell you how to do that. hope i didnt confuse u any.
most interfaces come with a program but the interface you wanna get is all up to you so do some homework on what u want out of that interface and how itll help your set up. BUT i wouldnt recommend you get one of those cheap a$$ soundcards from best buy or some sh!t

You can have as many things hooked up to the mixer as inputs you have on the mixer....

I have 5 inputs I think... So I could hook up 5 turntables if u want

I always watch it... but I guess I don't need a mixer if all i'm going to have is a MPC, DJ Mixer, Turntable, Monitors, and then the Interface to get in the computer

I dont know anything about that son...

I dont track beats....

I do have Edirol sound card though with like 10 ins and 10 outs...
I only paid like 250 for it...

I got nuendo too...

Why do you have that type of mulitple ins soundcard if you don't tracks beats?

I have a digi001 but I don't have 8outs for my mpc but I do use it to track my triton individual outs.
