can you see the partition after formatting ?

I have Kingston 512 MB compact flash card.I run 1.14 OS.
I tried to format the card + to make 4 partitions (around 130 MB each) and I pressed DO IT.
After 'making the partitions' there was no change in the view of the card.I mean there was only ROOT folder and that's it.
After making partitions,are you able to see them ? Maybe something like ROOT1 , ROOT 2... ??

Nope in the load screen position the cursor on the field that says partition A (if I'm not mistaken) and change that value to B, C or D to change partition. Why did you partition a 512mb card if I may ask ?

Now that I think of it, there was no point of making partitions.Instead of that I'm just gonna make new folders to better organise stuff.But...

I was just curious and wanted to check if there actually are partitions to go into and write data,like with zip disks on my su700 for example or with any pc hard drive.
By the way,do you think that when I make partitions,does it make any 'harm' to them? (except erasing all data of course)
I'm asking cause I know that partitioning hard drives makes physical changes in them.

I doesn't harm to partition your cf card but in this case it's completely unnecesary since os 1.14 can easily read a 512mb cf card, actually you make the card unreadable on an XP machine by partioning it on your mpc. You're better of by reformatting you card on the pc so it can be read by pc as well as on your mpc.

Now I'm at OS 1.20 and both mpc and windows xp can see the card with no prob.
Luckily my mom had a spare CF card (took it from her camera) so I could easily update the OS...phew
