Okay, JJs has nicely taken note of the new folder bug and put this notice on their page:
http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/%7Empc1000/important.htm

Translation from the machine translation ;) :

JJs got a report of the bug and checked what's up
indeed there was an error in the code
In JJglish: "The holder is not opened even if it creates NEW FOLDER"

I guess the mean folder, not holder...

BUT they say there's no guarantee that this error caused
the crash when a new folder was created!!!

So until JJ finds and kills the bug, they reccomend to create
a new folder before saving (don't overwrite).

:) not just similar, probably identical. I think they reused the original Akai code, can't imagine them doing the whole OS from scratch. But there's been fewer reports on file system errors with the new OS (just my impression - I don't read all posts...), so they may have already corrected some bugs in the past... nice to know they're on it, as oposed to the Akai croporation...

I don't get it...

So you pay $30 for an OS that has the same bugs and you are happy because it doesn't have the official Akai stamp of approval?

Yall do know that Akai and MPC are one of the same...no Akai...no MPC.

take it easy dude, we're all grown ups here, right? like, literate and intelligent.
Akai=major company, making great hardware, but no time/$ to cater for us nitpicking whiners
JJ=small community of hardworking programmers

I think the JJ and Akai got a nice symbiosis type thing going, don't you?

Mpc1kallday....stay out of grown folks business. Why your parents didn't set this as a restricted site is beyond understanding?

Any..I was talking about the $30 people paid for an OS that has several bugs (as reported in the forum) including bugs that were reported in the previous FREE OS.

As far as Akai having no time..the 1000 received a major upgrade just 9 months ago....which again was free. If you guys were not happy at that time, what makes today any different? Another major OS...bugs still present...and you paid for the OS...so what gives?

not only the features are worth it, but JJ's consistency to correct bugs as quick and often as possible is incredible. sure beats the sh!t out of waiting 8 months in counting for wakai to fix the os 2.10 bugs.

JJ update in days, not months

And $30 is cheap for getting the 2500 functionality (without the extra pounds of steel), don't you think?

yeah tbonus is the resident new folder bug technical expert here.

jahrome - yes, it's the same bug, but look at it this way - at least JJ gives us some promise of actually looking into the bug! not to mention the fact that he recommends a known workaround.
