Great now every time I try to make a new folder to save into, my MPC freezes. I have an APPROVED Hitachi 80 GB Hard Drive that I installed in August. Been working fine until I just tried to save into a new folder I made. Then I shut my MPC off and tried making a new folder and the same thing happened. Is this a MPC or HD problem? I can still load stuff from the HD fine so I'm thinking that the MPC is wuts the problem? Any suggestions?

I found a similar thread on this is and someone said to reformat the HD after a new OS is installed. Is this true? Cause if it's not gonna do anything then I would rather not erase my hard drive. I should also mention that my OS is updated but it has been updated for a few weeks now so it's not like this started happening as soon as I installed the new OS. But the main thing is should I reformat?

Try saving all files to the flash card in a folder first. Then saving to the folder on the hard drive. It's a hassle having to save twice but mine never freezes now if I do this every save...

reformating the harddisk after an os upgrade was recommended at every upgrade except the last update (from 1.21 to 1.22). if you upgraded from an older version it maybe better to reformat.
i had no freeze or wrong file error at all and i´m using my machine constantly sometimes eight to ten hours a day. my hdd is a samsung 80gb.

I had the problem too , i backed up my entire harddrive , installed 1.22 ( was using 1.21) and formatted it.
Up until now , no problems , but it only holds 3 projects currently , still got to put the backed up files back.
