i have a 1 GIG card for my mpc. Ive only used about 40 meg on it, and now it wont let me record samples for longer than 5 seconds!

This happened to a friend of mine and he thought his card was just broken, but now its happened to me and my card is pretty much brand new.

Can anyone help!??

i actually think i may be recording on the internal memory, not the memory card, because even when i delete stuff off the card it doesnt increase my allowed time to record.

Is there a way to change this so it records straight to the memory card?

im just guessing here

Of course you´re recording into RAM while sampling, the MPC is not a toy. The CF card is for saving / loading only.
All basic info you´ll need on the MPC 1000 is in the manual, check that out and keep it nearby for reference while getting to know the MPC.

The MPC1k is loading a demo song at power up. If you need sample ram, you might want to delete the program. You can do so by going to Program, choose Program1 (that is the default program that is loaded into my MPC at least) and hit the window button. You will find the delete tap on the bottom.

Another way to increase your sample ram is to buy the 128MB expansion. That should be enough memory for several projects at once.

Also, make sure you format your CF card before using it with your MPC. I believe the MPC is using FAT16 where most of the PC formats are FAT32.

Also, to switch between internal flash memory and CF card you do that in the LOAD mode. Just move the cursor to the top and use the wheel.

Hope that helps,

This can be done in Trim mode. Partial and complete memory clearing can also be done via Purge.
Again, maybe I wasn´t clear enough the last time:
