Mpc/VS2400 Sync?

So im trying to record my tracks (w/o the 8-outs option) and i cant get my 2400 and mp to sync up correctly. what i would like to do since i dont have the additional outs, is to record the the sequences and arrange them in the 24 by copy and pasting the 4 or 8 bar seq. individually. any one familiar with this set-up.

im goin crazy mixing vocals into these 2 track takes!!!!

Ive read somewhere before about arranging the first bar in your sequences to be blank to allow the equip time to sync but even trying that its still off or maybe and more likely im just doing it wrong.

any help greatly appreciate it !!

Is the tempo on the VS the same as that on the MPC?

I do the blank bar thing too and then delete it on the VS when I'm done recording

yeah thats my problem, i'll set the tempo map but when i record my sequences they dont fall into place with the grid on the vs. see what i'll do is try an record like the kick drum and snare on seperate tracks for the four bars and copy and paste them as opposed to recording the whole kick track and going back to record another instr. or whatever. the timiing is off just ever so slightly that its enough to not quanitize properly. this ish is driving me crazy.

Set them both to the same time code.. I usually used midi clock. In the SYNC peramaters, set the sync mode to external., and set the midi out sync generator to midi clock. Go to the tempo map area, and set the tempo to the same as whatever the beat is your trying to record.. Make sure you have your midi ins/outs in the correct ports (ins to outs) and that if you have any in the midi (B) ins/outs on the mpc to change that in the MIDI/SYNC area on the MPC.
