MPC 1000 Useless?

How do you track your beats?

MTC Sync isn't working for me, and using MIDI Clock with the MPC as the slave isn't good either.

The only other option I can think of is recording stereo tracks one by one and lining them up after, and that's not very accurate or efficient.

I'm thinking of switching to Cubase exclusively for this reason.

Does anyone have any input that could help me out?

Uh you could resample. Alot of others use Cubase, Nuendo, Protools, ect to track out their beats and seem to not have an problem. If u do plan to sale your mpc1000 let me know.

i have no problem with tracking my beats 1 to 6 tracks at a time. i use a korg d3200 (master) to control my mpc. you have to think of the end result. if the beat is DOPE that is!


use patience.

if you need to record more than 6 separate channels w/out sync then here's a workaround:

on both (1-6 and then 7-12)passes place the same tiny sample (e.g. a one cycle sine, bit of digital spike- * ) of your choice in an empty bar at the start. this reference artefact will be recorded into your DAW on any of channels1-6 and any of channels 7-12-

Then zooooooom in on the artefact and move 7-12 (make sure they're grouped) so that both waveforms are lined up. powerup:sample accurate synchronisation without sync

What use is this thing if I can't track beats from it in a relatively simple, accurate way?

I can't even get rid of the thing until I find a way to track out all this shit.

Sorry to break it to you, but that's also the most reliable way to get what you want. Sometimes you just have to work on it.

You could try the new OS (see the forum about it at this site) which has MTC implemented. Version 2.1 only has MIDI clock, which I too have found shaky. I've not tried the new OS with MTC yet to see if that's more reliable.

i can help u track out ur stuff from ur mpc1000 to fruityloops ull be the 5th person in the world to do this though, fl users are rare and no one likes us

Not being a smartazz but you said it was "useless", I don't agree with that.

None of the mpc's are "useless". There is a use for them all.

And when you start a "useless" thread with an issue that has been beaten to death that you would have known had you searched it out you'd not have had my reply here now would you?

i like fruity loops users. (no karamo)

Lampdog I plan on ridding myself of this useless piece of shit as soon as I track everything I need off of it. If I get rid of it now I have no way of tracking the beats on it.

Don't get me wrong, it's the most effective production tool I've ever used, and is fun to use.

The fact that I can spend a few hours on a beat, save it, then try and load it at a later date and there's nothing there, makes it frustrating and almost a gamble to use.

I'm sure my tracking problems will be cleared up at some point, but up until then it's not the best production solution for me.

Wasn't MTC implemented like a week ago? How has this been beaten to death?
