Hello, im thinking of purchasing a MPC1000 for the following reasons:

1. I need a sampler for my dj-gigs that is fairly portable and can hold pre-recorded sounds as well as an ability to sample in realtime and , to some degree effect-process in realtime.

2. Im tired of making beats in Cubase and want a faster "interface" to use with it.

As far as ive understood, the 1000 is ideal for all of this except perhaps the realtime part. How fast is the sampling and processing for this machine? Can i sample a phrase and playback the instant i stop recording? Can i sample a phrase so that it instantly is inserted into a pre-programmed pattern that plays alongside for example a beat on my turntable (for example record over a sample in a sequence, so that i at any time can replace the sample but keep the rhythm pattern)?

Generally, could those of you that has experience with using MPC1000 live telle me a little about it and how satified you are with it?

Also, it DOES contain a time-stretch and reverse function, right?

Thanks, Ev1.

Have you looked at the KORG KAOSS PAD 3 ? check the specs, it sounds like
the sort of on the fly immediate sampling and effects proccessor you need
whilst mixing, they sound great for £300, also have you thought about using a laptop with ableton live ? check youtube for top demos of what can be done

The kaoss pad looks nice and easy to use, also handy if you do studio work for it's fx!

Unfortunately, im too conservative to use a laptop and im not really satisfied with my KP2 (although the KP3 had some nice new features). Ive tried both several times, though, but...no, i dont really like those interfaces.

So, nobody here who has any MPC live performance experience to share with me?

hi, i am also interested in the realtime part of 1K. i saw some videos of 2K5 which showed, that this all this is possible with it.

i am now looking for some machine, that would allow me to
- play predefined patterns (of samples and midi notes) and switch among them without needing to press the button just in time (it will wait until the right 1st beat comes)
- record while playing out samples and syncing with midi (and recording a loop of specified length)
- edit patterns while playing in midi sync

is this possible with MPC 1K? or any other mpc / machine? and do you suggest any other feature?

thanks,

ondra

thanks kja for your reply, there is a lot of looping machines out there, eg redsound soundbite and many others. but all of them lack playing own sounds / sending midi to other machines ... that's why we are asking here, MPC's seem to be very close to this :)

najlos: thats exactly the kind of possibilites im looking for too. i friend of mine bought the akai remix-16 mixer from ebay, check it out. havent tried it yet, but it seems very nice, except maybe for crappy sound.

it does all ur saying although im not sure about inserting into a sequence automatically..... and the harmonix got midi in and out if thats wat u mean? if u could be more specific? here you record a sample then it askswat pad to put it on so i guess you could do that maybe but with experience i will let you know that mpc r made to stop and start so you will run into this.... but cant u be creative and drop the mp for a break while you set the sample? and i just think for u a mp might be overkill.... it will make u want to be a producer and quit djing....lol.
