Hey guys .

I have a quick question. By the way , I have RTFM.LOL .

After Chopping up the sample, setting the region points and converting into Patched Phrase, Why does my sample sound faster than before. I found the original sample speed through trial and error and the resulting Patched phrase conversion is much faster than the originial. Does anyone know the concept behind patched phrasing and where I can read up on it. Thanks.

What's the tempo that you have your sequencer set to?

I can't recall 100%, but it's possible that the PP will replay at the sequencer tempo even when you're in trim mode.

use an empty sequence to find the tempo of the sample.

chop the loop into as many slices as the sample calls for.

even down to 1/16 notes if you have to.

then use the zoom feature to get WAY in there that way you can set the start and end points exactly so it doesn't click.

covert to a patched phrase

put the sample on the pad.

this should put it right on beat if you got the right tempo in the first place.

i like to sometimes take a drum break, patchphrase it and then layer a couple other kicks in to give it some dynamics. maybe pitch the additional kick a little bit.

sometimes you have to just not fu*k with the Patchphrase. its kinda limited.

good luck.

it is very crucial that you have the original tempo right on.
