Any other config needed to use the 8-out board?

I bought my MPC2000 with the 8-out board. I set up a sequence and went to test the indiv outs, but no sound came out. Comes fine through the stereo outs. I went into the mixer section and assigned each channel to it's own individial out, but still nothing. The volume on the channel is all the way up, center panned. But no sound. Do I need to turndown the Stereo volume? The section on the mixer in the manual just shows how to set the level, pan and output, but does not have any troubleshooting tips. I don't need at this minute since I don't have a multiple input audio interface right now, but since it's in there I want to make sure it's working. The manual says that notes get assigned to the channels, so it doesn't go by track number? Like if I got my kick on track one, doesn't mean that channel one is going to be the kick if I don't have a kick assigned to that pad? Does the note automatically get assigned a channel? I know that you can select the channel with the pads, but does that mean whatever sound get's loaded on that pad gets routed to that channel?

Have you ever used the mixer with the main outs? It is set up the same way for individual, multi out and fx. As the manul states, each mixer chanel is for notes assigned to each pad... not track number. This would allow you to have a single track with a bass drum and snare to go out on two different outputs. The easiest way to test the outs is to do it while you are setting up a program as that is where you assign samples to pads. Then go to the mixer under the same pad and adjust the output channel and volume.

No, I haven't used the mixer for the main outs. I haven't really been tweaking the settings all the much on it. I've just been getting used to getting around the machine. So I setup a program, assigning sounds to a pad, then I have to go into the mixer and switch to indiv assign what output the channel will be on and assign the note to that channel? Or does it automatically do it?

I looked at the manual, it's my best friend, didn't really "get it" so that's why I'm asking. But thanks for the response.
