To update the OS:
Download the OS from here http://www.akaipro.com/supportos.php#MPC2000XL
Put the BIN file with operating system on the floppy, zip disk or compact flash card (don't know what you're using) and LOAD it into the system.

Don't forget to check the features of the OS you're puttin in your mpc.
If you don't know them, use search function on this forum.

alright I feel sorry for you----------------save the OS on a disk or whatever---JUST THE BIN FILE. Put the disk in the 2000 and turn it on---it'll automatically load/update. If that doesn't work---all I can suggest is that you take out your ram then upload the new OS. Id bet your ram is causing the problem. After you update the OS--reinstall you ram and see if it works. If not---buy some new ram

Open the MPC, take the RAM chip gently out of its holding.
Then try to start the MPC with the standard 2 MB only.
