wut up everybody. does anybody kno how to link an MPC 1k to an S5000 sampler in order to use the 1k as the beat clock while "making beats" inside the S5000's multi mode? I want to basically make the two machines into one machine where I can move sound and edit or rec. any where in the system. for example- put the drm ptrn on the mpc and maybe a bass line also, then use the S5000 to play-in other samples thru my midi keyboard so I have a pad-key hybrid. I kno it's possible... I am just ignorant. I kno I could just go straight into protools but that is not what I am trying to do. help a dummy out please.

try this

PROTOOLS midi 1 out-------->MPC midi 2 in

MIDI CONTROLLER out------>MPC midi 1 in----->MPC 1 out---->akai S5K

S5K audio 1-2 out---------->MPC inputs---->Turn thru inputs on

MPC (1-4)(stereo) out-----S5K front in

MPC stereo out----->PROTOOLS

any others?

thanks man, I'm good to go now. you don't know if and how the s5k loops if I'm using the mpc1k as the master do you?

The S5000 doesnt have a sequencer so you really don't need to send it beat clock.

it can only loop samples.... no sequences.

ooooh okay! damn... for as long as I've had this s5k I've been trying to use it's multi mode w/mpc to record in sequence style on the s5k. So... w/ the s5k I really have to build the track thru loops in multi mode :shock: but w/ that setup you showed me, I should be able to play along from s5k w/mpc and vice-versa right?
