CF Card Speed

Does the speed of the CF Card you are using to load and saves samples to matter?

Will using a CF Card that can support higher speeds make loading and saving sounds faster on the 2500?

In my personal experience, the CF card speed doesn't make a hell of a difference unless you are saving or loading the full 128mb of available memory into your machine. Even then, it's hard to notice how much quicker/slower one or the other is. I'd bet that the latest and greatest CF cards can be accessed faster with a #.#Ghz PC much quicker than the 2.5's processor can. Don't get me wrong the 2.5 is pretty damn quick with saving and loading but it's not as fast as my G5. Then again, it's my own personal experience with the cards. So take what I say with a grain of salt. In all honesty, I have been saving and loading from my internal HD lately. I'm sure someone on these forums will disagree whole heartedly on the subject but either way, that's what I've got for you. Hope it helps.

It doesn't depend on how fast your CPU is. If writing to a CF card was an issue for my CPU already, I would be very concerned.

What it depends on, along with the general quality of the card, is the speed/quality of the card writer that is used. In other words, which card writer hardware is built into the 2500.

But like "Mr. Crappy Pants" already mentioned, it shouldn't make that much of a difference if your card can write 5 or 6 MB/sec if you're writing on average maybe 50 MB at once.
