Getting started on beat making help

hey guys, whats up? im trying to get into the beat making shit, and i was wondering if i should cop an MPC before a program. I think the first thing im gunna cop is this Numark turntable, then idk if i should get a mpc or a program? also, which program should i get? ive only fooled aorund with flstudio demo, so idk if thats the best program to get with an mpc or not. any ideas/suggestinos would be appreciated. also, which MPC should i get to start off with. I know a guy who is sellin his mpc2kxl for like 900 and there is a guy selling a mpc1000 for 650, so idk which one i should be lookin at for a beginner. Thanks for all the help ahead of time.

yeah thank you, i have been readin. i just wanted some opinions.

Go to the MPC Comparison section and kind of read around. I noticed you said XL and 1k. You should compare them side by side and figure out what offers u EVERYTHING you need. I know u are a newbie but u gotta start somewhere. Either machine in my opinion will work and both are easy to use. But with the new Updates/OS I'd say go for the mpc1000. But thats on you. Try going to test out those mpcs u know are for sale(if possible) or go to a music store to test them(if possible).

yeah i think that would be possible. but i have been reading about the mpc 2500 and it seems to be a great machine too. so i may end up comparing the 1000 and the 2500 instead of the xl, but i know some site has a comparison up somewhere. Thanks for the input Nicole!

Sure np but with the updates/os for the mpc1000 its becoming just as good as the mpc2500 or almost similar. Just read around on that or mpc1k users can reply with their two cents. But the 1k is making big moves now b/c of JJ.

They usually go for 450-800 depending on condition, color, and whats included. 650 isnt a bad price if its in FULLY WORKING condition and at least has the 128mb expansion installed. Thats how i see it.

Yes the black ones are usually higher in price JUST BECAUSE its BLACK. They are the exact same machine except just different colors. You can always change the blue/red one to an black one buy buying an black case.

ehh, i guess its not that big of a deal, but i mean, budget is an issue so the MPC1k might come down to it. But also, i just wouldnt want anything to happen to an mpc with its os that isnt supported by akai.

anyways, is there any other equipment i should be looking at also? midi keyboard, mixer or anything like that?

Depends on what type of producer u will be. Sampled based or composer based or both. Just go to www.tweakheadz.com and read the guide. It has everything to help you figure out what u should be getting for an home studio.

I disagree with nic, being too soft...if anything she is more patient and understanding...what good is a forum on mpc's if people can't ask questions...the creators had to know people were gonna ask questions...without help basically this is a show and tell forum

I agree he has to do research, but blazing down a path clueless is just ridiculous...everybody on this forum has asked for help at some point...he's no exception...plus all he asking for is basic knowledge no harm in that
