LOL...... these guys don't even know what their missing!!1I just got back from a little session mpc with my 500 and there is honestly nothing more enjoyable then making beats anywhere at anytime.

All you guys hating on the 500,while your out and away from your studio I guess you guys will keep yourselves content with the gameboys and PSP's while those that are serious about making music will be doing just that.

Why make a beat on the bus when you could look out the window....right?Yeah sure.
I'm not sure what you mean by "with a lot of people that **** just all talk".......if you like making music you like making music whether it's on the bus , lunch break, car trip, or in the park. :)

That's a point. I get dizzy in the bus, imagine with an mpc.

I'm glad that who ever owns the 500 has the ability to make beats on the fly anywhere and everywhere... just imagine... what if some other goober on the bus has a portable keyboard? That means you guys could jam out on the spot... you know Dr. Dre made his sickest drum beats when HE was on the bus with his MPC 500... and then Scott Storch came along with his portable key's and they dropped their greatest hits... now thats music

Dr. Dre and Scott Storch on the bus huh? That would be a jam session...LOL!!!1 Sounds like you have something against portable technology. I really don't understand why you have such a firm stand against the 500.........Anyway to each his own.

all you babies complaining about a machine you don't even own is pathetic. The whole purpose of this thing is that it really is portable, runs on batteries ( duh! that's why the screen is small you brainless pawns ) and can allow you to capture an idea anywhere anytime. To me those are features are unmatched by any other manufacturers ( and you can't count the sp-404 cause it can sequence worth a dayum ). Sure it's not going to run your studio, but for what it is, and what it was designed for, it should excel. THis is not intended to be a one stop solution for doing every aspect of a track, but there's no reason why you couldn't do so. You can at least bring a hot sample, bass and some drums to the table anywhere, be it to the studio or lunchroom.

On 2 days of the week, I have a 4 hour break between tutorials at my unversity, which i usually just kill in the library. Every week, i take my sp-404 and just sit in a video cubicle, stick in an old war documentory or something and sample away.

It would pretty entertaining to sit with an mpc right there with you. (even though i still prefer the 404)

Nice to know that someone out there has a realistic viewpoint of the 500.
Thanks for the input on the matter. :D

Its a win win situation. By sampling from documentaries, i learn from them at the same time! :P

It's true that a 404 does not have the same sequenceing power as an MPC but don't underestimate the box. It surely can sequence and quite nicely in its own peculiar way.
