I've never had a problem tracking out in Midi Clock until I downloaded the new OS. For some reason I am not able to track out sounds that run from my sound module (Motif Rack-ES) into my MPC out to Pro Tools (did that make sense)?

Now I'm reading that Midi Clock didn't keep the swing for someone that was tracking out his beats with Midi Clock? Is this true? I'm really not sure what the difference is between Midi Clock and Midi Time Code, can someone explain?

And does anyone know what's up with not being able to track out sounds from my rack? Thanks for the help!

Not sure why it's not working but I do know in the midi section of the mpc there is some settings where you can switch between midi out/midi thru, etc. That may help.

midi clock sends out 24 pulses per quarter note and the recieving device follows along at every pulse (and therefore same tempo). the timing will be affected as the receiving device needs to see a pulse before it can advance another step.if those pulses are sent out bad then the slave devices timing can be bad.

mtc send out hours minutes seconds and frames. it doesnt affect tempo or timing as hours/min etc.. are constant.

So should I be using MTC or Midi Clock?

Keep in mind Midi Clock works just fine for me.

mtc is generally supposed to be tighter. but if clock works for u then stick with it.
