YES, we did get our drives from the same ebay seller Garland Computers.

Do you recognize the wires that I am talking about, the ones in the third picture. Does your drive also have these four wires? If so are they connected to anything or are they hanging loose inside of the enclosure?

That looks exactly like the one I use with my 60II. Mine is in an external case though.

These coloured rainbow wires are to do with the SLOT UNIT ID SELECTION.

Remove them and the PCD-15 will default to SCSI ID 0 + 1 for each slot.

The only wires needing connection in an MPC3000 for this drive are:

1: the power line.
2: the SCSI bus cable.

Forum user DELA's picture shows the power lines which have been re-routed from the floppy supply lines.

Forum user DELA's previous posts in this thread http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=57638 ( about three posts in ) confirm this also.

mine looks almost exactly like yours does. the rainbow wires on mine are connected to the board inside the enclosure, and then they're tied in a small knot on the shell of it, then they hang long with a black tip that sorta plugs into something else.

These PCD-25 drives you guys got from GARLAND COMPUTERS still have the SCSI UNIT ID SELECTION HARNESS attached.

Proves that they were ripped from an external enclosure.

Where external enclosures are concerned; this "HARNESS" is usually connected to another circuit board containing the SCSI ID SELECTION switches.

As you are not going to be selecting the SCSI ID's on these drives.

Remove the rainbow coloured coloured wires as they will not be used.

Without these wires connected to a SCSI ID SELECTION SWITCH the PCD-25 will default onto SCSI ID 0+1.

I found a pdf manual and they;re pretty much the same. Just different card slot on the bottom. Better, because no need for an adapter.

I picked up an external scsi case off some dude on ebay and got a cable to hook up the card reader. I also picked up a 1 Gb CF card with a PCMCIA adapter to use with the card reader. I was able to format the card into 26 partitions of 30 mb. Even though the card is 1Gb the max space it will format is 780 mb.

I don't have a camera right now but I will post a pic of the card reader in the external case as soon as I am able.

MPC60/MPC60II/MPC3000 will format 26 partitions of 29 megabytes each.

The 29 megabytes is closer to 30 in real terms.

Maximum formatted size is 780megabyte.

A 1gig drive will be format limited to 780megabyte.

MAX-PART-SIZE = 30
MEG = 1024
PART-TOTAL = 26

(MAX-PART-SIZE x MEG) = 30720
(30720 x PARTTOTAL) = 798720
(798720 / MEG) = 780

Disk size maximum = 780 megabytes.
