MPC2000 - digital out to Soundcards digital in

I have a problem connecting my mpc to the computer! purchased a coax/rca cable to connect the mpc's dig. OUT to my soundcards dig. IN (M-Audio Audiophile 2496)... The Soundcards software-mixer says "valid connection" but i cant get a signal to record in samplitude/ableton live/cubase... tried everything with the soundcards setup parameters, but it hasnt worked yet!

Now that you've got the hardware setup, maybe you want to put focus on whatever app you're using (you usually need to setup the ins & out with each app). Like what I might do (setup the soundcards' I/O) in cubase has no effect on soundforge. Two totally different applications.
