some midi q's

what up y'all..

i'm gettin cubase 4 in a week for my trackin..a few questions just came to mind..

is it possible to make a template in cubase that gives me access to the software plugin effects while i'm makin a beat on the mpc (i previously only used software to track). I want to be able to use Cubase effects but completely sequence with the MPC.

also, if i was usin softsynths and all that, whats better, MTC or midi clock?

The way to do that is to hook the audio outs of your MPC to your soundcard, set up audio tracks in Cubase for each of the MPC channels, and then add the effect plug-ins to each of the Cubase tracks as you wish.

Now, how satisfactory that will be depends upon your soundcard drivers, and the horsepower of your PC, which determines how low you can drive the latency of the system.

You can still sequence from the MPC.

For softsynths, you set up a MIDI track to receive sequence data from the MPC, and route that to the softsynth. (Actually, that's how I do it in Sonar, not sure how Cubase does that exactly, but it should be somewhat similar).

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but Cubase 4 is an expensive piece of software (for SX, at least) - I hope that you're asking this question before you've shelled out your hard-earned cash for it. It's not a good idea to spend several hundred dollars on something before you know whether it will suit your needs.

Also, what is the spec of your computer, and your soundcard?

i figured thats all i had to do, just wanted to make sure...i've used cubase SE before but switched to logic for a while and hated it..so now im goin back to cubase.

got a macbook and motu ultralite.

im gettin cubase studio 4 so its a cheaper stripped down cubase 4, figured that i wouldn't use all the 'pro' features the full version comes with anyhow..
