NEW OS WISHLIST

What's up y'all?

I know there was already a thread like this but since JJ are gonna make that new OS now i think there should be one dedicated to nothing else, no bug reports or long discussions, just wishlists, maybe with a short description.
Maybe a moderator could even update this first post when new lists are posted (i can do this myself too but i'm not on here too often).


The Wishlist:


General:

- Master Tempo like the 2000(xl) had..everyone trying to transfer their old beats to the 2500 knows why...

- Change sequences after going out of recording mode (right now you have to stop the seqencer and hit play before)

- Grid Edit showing midi notes/events

- the ability to hold down "rec" from the main screen and hit a pad and record it in. just like you were in step or grid mode but from the main screen. This is on the mpc2xl.


Program mode:

- Assign sounds to layers in loading screen

- Change the filter for mutliple pads at once

- Tracks should recognize renamed programs (right now you'll get a bunch of ?pgm when you do so and have to edit all tracks for all sequences by hand)

- Of course simult mode

- An option to have certain pads on full level while others are still in velo mode (i think the 60 had this option...great for life peformances or people who like to record their drums in one take)


Trim Mode:

- In trim mode, instead of having to use shift+arrow keys it would be sweet to change the decimals with the +/- keys (i doubt anyone is using those for trimming since you can do this with the data wheel as well)

- Params in Trim mode like the 2000(xl) had (for better tempo detection)

- Samples keep the zones in trim mode

- Stereo to mono convert in trim mode

- Stereo Chop Shop

- Normalize to other rates than 0db


Effects:

- Effect chain or another possibility to use more effects at once

- Bitrate converter (16, 12 & 8 Bit)


Load & Save:

- An option to save all programs WITHIN SEQUENCES so you dont have to delete programs and purge before saving all programs and samples

- Let the pads play the sounds while loading and saving (so you wont get bored...maybe even bring the 2000 glitches while purging back LOL i think it's also annoying that you have to press do it each time you want to hear a sample together with the ones already loaded)


These functions would be worth the 30$ already imo...i'd even pay more for it.

I was thinking about something at work today.
Just an idea , don't know what you guys think about it.

If you change the program type to MIDI , the program should automaticly change to OFF.
Now this OFF program has the midi notes allways in a chromatic order and when you go into grid editor on the midi track , instead of pad numbers you get the notes next to the grid lines.

And this would finally make the program type usefull
I've been working with midi tracks ever since i got an mpc and have never set my tracks to midi , don't even know what it changes.

Just tryin to be funny. You shouldn't be working with a Peter Quistgard cracked Cool Edit in 2006 though....

Wristmaster, when you save a single sequence it should give you .mid files.

Fasttracker, you can get around this by creating autoload programs.

was wen me and my boys were recording on a windows 95 computer and we had to keep uninstalling and reinstalling to get the shit to work

the amount of times i saw that name as unbelievable

we were gonna attempt to track him down and shake his hand

Peter Quistgard , well , the whole idea is to not have to use a workaround
And to be able to see notes in the grid-editor , like a piano roll.

this won't happen due to file architecture.

those of you who don't already know this- the 2500 os isn't gonna be any different than the 1000 os, it'll just be adapted to the 2500...

we just got simult today, so you're in luck w/ that.

as for load sample to layer, i think that's brilliant.

in trim mode, after you're done zoning everything, i think it would be cool if we can go back and edit the zones instead of starting a new program and we can't go back and edit it.

so a feature that would save our sample with the zoning still there but we can still play the sample like we usually do when we start a new program.

we've been talking about this for a while, i love the idea. preservation of slice points.

yea i would love that feature because i chop my samples on the mpc. i'm thinking about getting recycle because i heard good things about it though. but still, it would be a really nice feature for an mpc. so if jj can do this, hand down man, that would be lovely.

What about linking parameters such as these? Couldn't you link the cutoff knob to other filters' parameters and control increment accordingly to several pads selected? I don't think it has anything to do with file architecture. It just seems to be a pain to code. It sounds more like laziness.

How about some work on the timestretch. Maybe I've been spoilt by Kontakt and Phatmatik Pro, but the 2500 timestretch just doesn't stand up in comparison for me. Could it be I was expecting too much..?

OHHHH you mean qlinking multiple pads?

yeah that's totally possible, in fact it's already possible on the jj os - you can select TRACK in qlink and filter/tune/whatever the entire program.

i htought you meant individual filters per pad layer.

3. bit converter.................... on the edit page in trim mode. Converts to 12 bit, 8, bit, and the sample rate.
