[Moding] My MPC 60

Hy,

I'm french Hip Hop producer, I've some questions :

1) I want to mod my 60 to have Headphone output : does anyone make that ? (no with forat)
2) I haven't got the Marion SCSI board, so is It really impossible to load any sample without the floppy disk (too long, too long !!!)

I considered getting headphone mod from Forat, but its $100 I think, plus I didin't feel like shipping my precious MPC across the country. I bought a nice headphone amp on ebay for about $25, a Danectro Estudio; comes with headphones too. takes a 9-volt battery, but its a cheap alternative.

Othe than getting the SCSI kit installed, you're confined onyl to using the slow floppy drive. The card reader, etc, mods you read about require the SCSI kit.

You can sample directly into the MPC-60, but you won't be able to save those samples unless you use the floppy or some external SCSI device. I highly reccommend that you get the Marion SCSI board and OS 3.10... it's more than worth it.

i was just thinking about that the other day when i was soldering on a new pot for the echo thingamawoohie.

if your handy teck saavy it would be piss easy to make the headphone board.

I'd be interested in taking a look at some pics of a DIY headphone amp. I would rather have an internal headphone jack than what I have now.

kinmaro, if you're interested in getting ver. 3.10 software for MPC (scsi kit is separate), I just saw a listing for the chips on ebay for $129.

They ship also to Europe (+$32). I've got my SCSI-Kit and OS 3.10 last week (after 6 weeks, by Rogerlinn it will be longer-imo)

id like to route some filters through the outs..not that i have a clue how to start...

Hi, just my 2 cents on the Headphone mod...

I recently took apart the Headphone amp board & breadboarded one up, although it's pretty simple, to me it's more trouble than its worth to make these when you have a plethora of other options.

Instead of spending $100+ s/h or whatever to have someone install this for you, you can pick up a cheap line mixer for around $39-$50 USD.
Say like a Behringer 4 channel mixer, that will have Heaphone + Main outs, and extra inputs for your DJ setup & synths.
They even have a battery powered one.

If it's just a matter of portabiltity, you can get headphones with a built in line amp too.

If anyone still really wants a heaphone amp in there 60, i can build a much better sounding one than in the stock 60ii, for your $100.
