I'm new to synching via midi. I used cool edit at first using the MTC but after i reorded, the tracks moved slightly which made them off beat. So I use vegas audio instead to chase the MTC from the MPC but i get static everytime i record.

The static might be coming from audio cables to close the power cords or something like that. Cheap cables maybe? Short in the aduio cable? Or it might be a problem with the motherboard. I had the motherboard problem on my friends computer recently. Only when he recorded it had static but music coming from the MPC realtime had no static at all. Connectors sometimes don't completely touch.

try midi clock, see if it happens there as well. It could be your midi interface or your latency settings. or cool edit.
