I was just quoting what JJ wrote on the page. I also said that I would have to try it out later. Meaning, this is what jj says, but I'm not sure if that's what is truly meant until I check it out.

Man, some of you need loosen up.

man
never thought simult would be so cool, what a great function. now i'm assigning all my layers to pads in the D bank and using them as needed.

I did try to tell you man! See what I mean now about grid edit not being a comparable workaround?

Not hating on you btw! Just happy I FINALLY can stop wishing I never "upgraded" from my MPC 2000, up until now its been a massive downgrade in the time it takes me to layer my hits the way I was used to.

Peace Antonym! Thanks for adding on to the discussion about SIMULT, which is obviously why we now have it!! YES.

If you mean SIMULT, it just makes one pad trigger another pad. So, if you want to have two snares layered in your sequence (for example), you don't have to program in 2 snares everytime. You just assign each snare to its own pad, but make one of the pads trigger the other pad with SIMULT.

The reason it's dope, is because you can still edit the envelope/effects for each pad independently. So you could have no reverb on one snare (again still going with the 2 snares example), and lots of reverb on the other. Or a tight decay on 1 snare and none on the other (this is handy if you are chopping hits that already have reverb from the record you sampled but you don't want to hear 2 sets of reverb).Etc.

The JJ SIMULT looks even better than the old one, because it looks like you can assign 4 pads to be triggered by one pad (previously only 2 were possible on the MPC2000/3000). I've been holding off on getting the JJ OS, about to install it now! Whoot.

Confirmed bug, hitting several pads disables the input audio.

sorry for this damn question but iv been away for like 2 weeks did he skip from like 1.06 to 4.0? im kinda lost

By SELFISH1 Sun Oct 08, 2006 6:03 pm
JJ changed it to 4.0 because some heads was confused as to why did 1.0 come after 3.6 or whatever. I dont know why it was confusing since those were betas but who knows.

I didnt really need the new OS, too many features for me already but that Auto Chromatic Tuning got me hooked, the 1k officially "stihs" on the 2k (sorry 2k lovers). The 1k is the truth right now with the 4.01 OS! I would get an MPD if I loved the larger pads that much! Greatly appreciate it JJ, your officially that dude Akai got a job waiting for you, JJ is the next Roger Linn! Im Gone -SIN

OMG i just installed 4.01 this thing is absolutely
out of this world.
waiting on the unlock code now.
how long does JJ usually take?

Do I have to have the unlock code to install the 4.01 OS on the MPC1000? I want to give it a whirl. I am having problems with OS 3.06 and the USB connection to my desktop. I am running Windows Server 2003 on the desktop, do I have to use XP for USB connecitons?

By Arks Tue Oct 10, 2006 4:07 am
cl516 - My unlock code took around 24 hours to arrive

Vencenzo - You don't need the code to install the OS. You just won't be able to save your work until you have the code. Not sure about the WinXP questions as I'm a mac user sorry. If the MPC mounts on your desktop though, I guess that means it works?

Vencenzo - you shouldn't have any problems with Windows 2003 Server. I'm sure the USB is the same as on Windows XP.
