Question about the jj OS

Say i buy jj OS..and 3-5 years later my mpc dies or i replace it with a newer 1k can i use my same OS?what if jj is no longer around to buy a new OS or simply this OS is as good as ur mpc last?

or around that time the 2500 would be cheaper and might be the last choice

With the kind of dedication and loyalty JJ has shown to it´s users (even upgrading the free beta with important bug fixes) one could suspect that when JJ calls it a day or gets shut down by Akai / Yakuza or by whatever reason decides not to make money out of his OS anymore they might release a free, non machine specific version of the OS.

My impression of the JJ project is that it´s mainly directed towards strengthening the MPC 1000 (and future 2500) and it´s user community, the dollars that they make are secondary to that. The amount of time spent to get a first commercial release and the rate by which new upgrades appear indicates that the hours spent on this project hardly can not be in a commercial relation to the money they bring in from it. The fee seems to be more of a "thanks for not spitting in our faces" gesture against people who wouldn´t appreciate their work rather than a market based hour rate.
But what do I know about their motives or money flow, but judging from their facade, when they decide that there is no longer any money to be made from their work and retires I belive they´ll make something available. If the get legally shut down, they´ll probably let something leak. That´s my theory.

i would easily pay $30 even for just one year of the new OS so why worry.

JJ is probably just waiting to make a "pay as you go" plan for the PONG game.. think about it.. .25 cents a game X number of registered users.. i myself would probably spend a couple bucks a nite... LOL

my bet, as well - if not the source code altogether. the ball's already started rolling, it'll take more than akai/numark/whatever else they call themselves these days to stop it.

if he manages to make some other breakthrough functions for the mpc1k and he asks money for it, thats allright but i hope i get a bug-free os for the money i already spent cus thats kinda bothering me right now.
