I want to update mine as well. But something makes me think it is harder to install than it looks. At the same time, I have got to think it can not be that hard that I have to pay $150 for the kit. Might I not just go out and buy the card ready and install it myself?

the 2000's (classic) can only use external drive's, its just a matter of plugging it in like you would an other scsi device.

There is no easy way to install an internal card reader or zip drive in the classic. The 'easiest' way would be to turn the external scsi connector inwards and to use an internal SCSI zipdrive or card reader, but this will sacrifice your external connector.
A more complicated approach consists of 'splitting' the scsi cable that is connected to the outboard scsi connector and thus create a scsi connection inside the 2k classic while keeping a functional external connector. Don't even think about it if you're not handy with soldering irons or you have no real hands-on experience with electronics.

And for that person who succesfully does this don't even TRY to put a 2 scsi devices on that y cable you just created, use one side at time. Think of it this way, do you value your mpc?
