Quick OS poll to take

just wanted to know who else besides me has taken there mpc1000 more and more seriously each time a new OS comes out, i bought the 1000 a few years ago thinking i would use it constantly, but honestly it was a very slow process and then i thought about selling it and just using only my PC again, then OS 2.10 came out and it just had me open to using it/learning it more and more, now the JJ OS is out and again its like a boost of energy is hitting me to work on beats again, anyone else agree? just a thought

you're right, but its just that every OS update got me hittin the pads more and more, that 1000 pulled a doctor jeckyl to mister hyde with each OS, shitts a beast

you should be inspired to make music no matter the os.....and NO I NEVER SAID ITS ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU USE FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO TWIST UP MY WORDS


I took the 1000 up to my cottage with an old akai os and I Was hyped because...I Was in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do except use what I had... so now u know who voted no.... I v used the new os . and I m just as hyped as I was when I used akai's os.....now I can do stuff quicker which is a super +......but my inspiration was never due to an os.

oh i know man...i spend hours in front of this thing without even realizing what i've done. i find that my sessions are longer with this os, too - i get fatigued less quickly.

savillion. the issue is this: you could make music with a rubber band and a shoebox, but there is soemthing to say about convenience.

let me put it into this comparison. if you are a drummer, wouldn't you put all your drums in a logically convenient place? you wouldn't put your bass at one corner of the room, your snare at another, and your cyms hanging from the ceiling.

that's what this os is. there's nothing revolutionary about ANY of this, really - it's just DAMN good ways of doing what we could do before. ie the individual note shifting in 6 pad grid edit?!? so sweet. the TRACK function of qlink!? sweet.

just compare the os 1.07 to jj's 4.01. if i could have seen what i'd be working with when i was using 1.07 in 2005, i'd probably have a minor seizure. it just wasn't a possibility. i think that justifies the excitement.

...so...hhahha its not the machien nor the person its the os...HAHHA naw naw I m playin I get what u mean but comming from an mpc2000 that hasent seen an update for years it just makes me see sad to see people so inspired on new and more and more and new features....it wasnent like the mpc1000 was completly un useable at its birth ..just needed a few tweeks ..........but these tweeks should motivate you....life should ...the smell of the morning skum floting over the city ......thats what musicians get inspired from....fat people and lazy people get hyped over convenience...me being one of them...hahahha what ever get hyped over an os.... I m hyped on simult we all have are things but dam DONT LET YOUR SHIT GET DUSTY CAZ YOUR MACHEIN FREEZES....my 2000 was the worst for the after 8 hours of work....Just get even with the machein!

It is what it is. Im just overall glad that this new o.s. is more user friendly. i hate playing chopsticks on my pads just to label my samples... or taking an half hour to create programs 1 pad at a time. since i sample alot this is a big plus for me!

i think this is often what it comes down to. it will doubtlessly happen to me too, but as i've seen it on the forums, people who have seen older technology dislike hype over the new. the 2000 and xl come up countless times in regards to that - "just look at xxxxxx" or "the 2000 doesn't have xxxx and people still make that HOT FIRE ON IT!!!!!!!1111"

my feeling is that better tools in better hands produces better music - or rather more innovations and most importantly, new sounds. it's all about finding the limits and using them accordingly. unfortunately, the limits of the old 1000 were fairly harsh. i definitely think i've progressed beyond using the mpc as a basic wave sequencer/layering box, which is really what it was back in the day.

what i consider the jj os right now is a "best of" os. it's been borrowing the most liked features from various mpcs and throwing em into one box.

new options are good for people who only want to use one machien only.....because they will feel limited when they go to a next studio which has an xl or so forth....sometimes it just creates to much of a comfort zone....hahha I donno if thats possible...................just dont get lazy use them features to the max like people with limited equepment did.....thats what its all about ..pushing your sequencer/sampler to the FUc kin limits
