I'm pickin up an MPC-1000 this saturday. I've been an Ensoniq user since 94 and have never really got into Akai's sequencer yet. I'll be trying the MPC-1000 before I buy. Here's some questions;

1) Is there loop position on the MPC-1000?
2) Can I play with sample start and loop position of a sample while the sequence is playing?
3) Is there a bi-loop feature?
4) Can I build a sequence by loading multiple sequences?

If you have any info for a first time Akai user please let me know.

yes

no, at least i dont think so. if the sequencer is going, you have to hit stop before it'll let you go to the sample trim window

3) Is there a bi-loop feature?

bidirectional loops? no

use yr PC fo that. the 1k is all about using a computer to do some of the pre-beat making stuff

that's why there's no timestretch, etc

understand, these are not excuses. there's a reason why the mpc1000 is $800-900 instead of $1800-$2000 like the xl

4) Can I build a sequence by loading multiple sequences?

yup, it's called song mode
