I was on this other yahoo type forum( that sucks compared to this one)

This guy said that he talked to Akai and they told him there is not enough room on the 4000 to continue updating the OS..... I guess the guy told him that there would be a 4000xl.... after a year or so...

Is this just a stupid rumor???? I hope so... AKAI isn't that stupid to not have know this in advance right???

easy

Get a MPC 4000 and you will believe regardless. Nothings perfect especially not akai, they never have been, thats the history. They do however make great drum machines and the 4000 is their best to date.

That wont happen for at least a couple years. Akai will not put out a new xl version of the 4000 until the current model is finished. The 4000's hardware is done, but they are still working hard on the OS. My guess is that it will be at least 5 years before we see another MPC model. Thats a long time to wait for a serious price drop.

I think I'll just go for the 4000. I don't care how bad it is, it must be better than my Triton. That sequencer is absolutely f*cked if you ask me. I liked the mpc2000xl, and the 4000 can only be better 8)

Maybe if some whizzkid at Akai could let the OS be loaded in from HD or an other storage device, and reside in RAM (protected) we could have an OS of hundreds of Megs  this probably is an totally stupid idea of me... anyway...

you know what they might not drop the price but i know in the back of my mind i would always think about the fact that akai might do the same shitttt it did with the mpc 2000 when they drop the 2000xl. Me i hate to rush to buy something only to find out later on that they gona drop the ball on the product and do the damn thang again

Even with the additional features on the 2000xl, the 2000 has much more solid hardware than the 2000xl. When it comes to price, you always give up something to gain another. The xl's internal components are $hit compaired to the 2000 and 3000. Still, its a dead issue cuz we wont see a 4000xl for a couple of years. The 4000 in its current form is so far ahead of any other MPC that there cant even be a realistic comparison.
Dont buy into the negative hype or unproven speculation. The 4000 is the bomb. Period!
