DIGI 002 and 8 Outs problem

I looked up every post I could find about the DIGI 002 and the MPC 2000XL (with 8 outs), and I still can't fix my problem.


Basically I recently purchased a DIGI 002, and I am trying to use my MPC in a Pro Tools session.

I have the 8 out snake connected to the back of the 002.
I have samples loaded on 32 pads (A and B).
I have a Pro Tools session up with 8 mono tracks record enabled.
I went into mixer (on the MPC), and turned up the individual volume of the first 8 pads.

Nothing seems to work, I can't get any sound in Pro Tools.

you have the inputs set up correctly in pt?

I think so. Mic Line 1, Mic Line 2, and Analog 3-8.

If I take the first plug out of the back, and put it in the left of the stereo out, then I get signal on Mic Line 1.

Anyone have any ideas?

Check your IO setup in protools. It's in one of the Menus. The IO setup allows you to setup names and labels for your inputs and outputs. I

The easy way to do this is open the IO setup and go to the input tab and click Default down at the bottom. This will revert back to the original input setup.

An annoying part of protools is that the input setup can be changed by opening a session with a different IO setup. I wish they'd change that.

Other than that. Have you assigned your 8 outs on the MPC to the appropriate pads?

Best thing to do is to use the stereo output on the MPC. Check your getting a signal on a set of headphones and then go through the eight inputs on the 002.

yeah what kraster said but also dont forget that you have to disable mic mode on the front panel of the 002, just make sure those buttons aren't pressed, at least if you have the rack version of the 002, I dont know about the board.

I've had problems with that too and it turned out to be the I/O setup so make sure you check that like kraster said.

thats your problem rite there.

the 8 outs are not just the first 8 pads, you have to assign the pads individually to a particular output

go to the mixer screen

choose drum 1 or whatever program ur using

hit "individual" or some abbreviation of that (i dont have my xl in front of me rite now)

move your cursor to the very top

start turning your data wheel. you should notice that the numbers will max out at 8

get it?

8 outputs

if any of those are stereo sounds, you'll end up seeing couples (12, 34, 56,78)
