Man you got 2 much wax in ur ears...........You don't deserve a 3000 if u can't ear the beauty of the machine's AD's!!!!

The MPC 3000 has been my main MPC for years until last year. When the 2500 dropped, I let the MPC 3000 go. Why? Because the 2500 had the MIDI features I needed most and the sound of the MPC 3000 is good, but not amazing as others will have you believe. If the MPC 3000 was clearly superior to the 2500 in sound, I would have kept it.

Now, in the past month, I have started using an MPC 3000 again. Yes, it sits side by side with the 2500. Forget my ears. I let everyone else be the judge. Not one person who has entered my studio has said that one MPC sounds better than the other.

So thanks for hyping up my MPC 3000..it keeps the value up

Why don't you post the same drum sequence on both machines and let us judge if there is an audible difference.

Your problem is that you need to stop believing everything your read in the forums. Sorry....no magical sound. Pick up any CD today. You can not tell which MPC was used to produce any song.

Sounds pretty much the same as my 2000xl . I only notice a difference when I turn on the Master EQ and Comp.

3000 and 2500 have different AD/A converters and the 3000 being better quality...right? But no audible difference , beg to differ . How bout the filters no difference there either I guess.

Jus look at the new and old technogoly. It speaks for it's self.

MPC3000 -Old /Tech
MPC2500- New/Tech

There's going to be a difference no matter what until mix and mastermix down is done. Court Case is Closed.

Well..no.

The case ain't over. You have to actually prove one sounds better than the other. It appears that none of you have both MPCs and just repeating what you overheard/read on the internet. The fact is, you really can't tell the difference. I will have demo's posted within days...

But you guys are silly. I have no reason to hype either machine...I have both.

Lol...... ok,we can talk all day long about this. But you telling me about {not having either MPC's}????? come on Ja! My First Major Project was on a MPC3000 and Many More! 15yrs ago. Repeating???? what? Lol....you got to be kidding me  To old for that. (Repeating Stuff) lol. And reason to hype these mahines?>First as a musician,I have know need to hype, buy, promote any of these machines........I don't get paid for that.I love the MPC's for what they were made for and that was Sampling, and Sequenceing that's it's.I've been doing this way to long jahrome to repeat what some of these young cats are doing. As amatter of Fact the MPC wasn't my first Sequencer,It was this! Your Probably to young to remember this one. 8)

Nice try...but I am not too young to remember that sequencer. Try....too young to care. Back in the day, we only cared about turntables, a dum machine, and a stereo 2 track recorder. Plus, you couldn't just go to any retailer to pick those things up. But the besides the fact that the magical sound of the 3000 is better or worst than anything else. Instead of just making these claims, post some examples. I need some time, but I will have my examples posted soon.

My first sequencer was a Roland as well...some 8 track joint in the early 90s to go along with my JV80 and R-70 drum machine.

i had the 2000xl and i think it really sounded bad with subbasses and low basses also using indiv outputs, i tried with a regular 2000 and it sounded better imo. Dont they have the same converters?
Also i switched to 2500 sellin the xl to a friend so the mpcs are still together and i have the feeling that the new one sounds a bit better, i also can feel a bigger difference with the master effects.
Someone said to me that the 3000 converters were so cool but i dont really know...all in all i dont give a shit, i still make my things.

I am the kind of person that appreciates the beautiful artifacts that old Akai samplers produced. I used strictly an S2000 and Digital Performer for years and never thought that buying a newer hardware sampler would ever be an option. I was later turned on to software samplers, synths and effects and how confined all elements of writing music could be. Confined is the wrong word. What I mean is MIDI cables and loading each module with their respective programs to corrospond to the specific song would be no more. I decided that a stricly software based setup would be super sick. In theory it is. Having everything inside of that computer tower, the bare minimum of cords and just the ease of storage really made it seem too good too be true. As it turned out, it was too good to be true. All of the software applications, aside from effects which zero's and one's get the job done super good, were lacking something. Something as simple as the amplitude of my samples got drastically lowered. I found myself boosting gain and plain cranking the volume within Logic just to get nice hot levels. Maybe I just was not handling the signals properly but that definitely turned me off. Then the overall sound came into play. I was way more happy with the S2000's 16 bit sound over the 24bit software samplers. So it was time to rethink my approach on writing music. I started collecting some key hardware items that I thought/think define the sound I like. Anyway, in the re-collection of hardware, I aquired an MPC2000XL. I had never been more amped on any other piece of gear I purchased. Then I caught wind of a new MPC, the 2500, that had features similar to the features I liked so much about computer based setups. I was on the fence for a few months deciding whether or not the 2.5K was for me. In the end, I chose to sell my 2000XL in order to purchase a 2500. So after all this BS I just wrote, I'll tell you that I'm 100% happy with the switch. The sound is 16bit goodness that I grew up loving and easy storage and sample transfering made it a no brainer. I don't think that the 2500 sounds quite as good as my S2000 and 2000XL but I was willing to make sacrifices. Even so, the 2500 sounds great to me despite my preconceived notions of artifacts and such. Basically the long and short of this whole thing is, if your samples sound good to you, they will sound good coming out of the 2500. Sorry for the book but hope my opinion helped somebody out. I have owned them all at one point or another.
now I have the 2500 and it does the job.
i must admit though that i really liked the Aesthetics of the 3000LE I owned for about 6 months. All sounded identicle save the 60. but theres still something about made in japan that is appealing in an intangible way

I'm with jahrome on this one. If your analyzing the difference in sound in a quiet enviroment, then yes, you can hear a lil something. Although the mpc3000 is slightly warmer, it's nothing that can't be done on an MPC2000 with a CHEAP eq. There is no real difference. It's not like going from SP1200 to Motif. I used the 3000, I like, it, but I don't notice anything when the beat is playing, and be honest, no-one on here can tell the difference either. How many hits have you heard that you knew what kind of MPC was used? Most of you were shocked when 9th wonder revealed he used fruity loops.. 99.9% of us just knew it was an MPC in some kind of way, and we were all wrong!
Thanks Jahrome for putting out the truth. I've tried to do the same many times but the truth is that some of these guys spent BIG bucks on old gear and they have to justify it by saying it sounds better. If you like the 3000 or whatever, just say so. A hi-hat on a 3000 sounds just like a hi-hat on a 2500.

First I agree with everyone in here to a certain extent. I remember when I had the ASR-10.....by far it nocks the MPC's out the water!!! with it's punchy sound (AD/DA) ,but in using it I was disappointed with the Sequencer,So I sold it and got the XL,now back to the 3000 it has the same fill with how punchy the sounds come out to me.To you ,it may be different.I've personally reallized after selling the ASR-10,that I needed a machine that was going to give me what I really needed, and that was the Sequencing! duh! but along the way I learnt what was suitable for my needs.Ok....Jahrome ,you and I both come ......I take it that you've been in this game longer or as ......besides the point.I know all about DJing (20plusyrs behind me)been in video's (RapCity) and some. Can you believe I'm almost a 30 year Vet?lol .... as amatter of fact I been in this music/hiphop game since 78"but I diegress from that......there's nothing to prove on that either. But Like I've said all ways whatever SUITS YOUR BOOT!!!!!.

PS I Co-sign with Mr.Crap!!!!!
