are you referring to the mpc2500?

because direct recording doesnt exist for the 1k with the AKAI OS

it does ..on every track.. for the 2500 though..

I thought there still were a lot of problems with direct recording on the mpc1000?Even with O.S. 4.01

So that problem with the begining of your recording having a skip in it , that had to be edited out is fixed?

So again I ask...are you talking about continuous sample tracks or direct recording? The 2500 has 64 direct recording tracks but only 1 continuous sample track.

Does the 1000 have 4 continuous sample tracks now?

Direct record lets you record straight to a track. What the MPC does is laet you sample and generate sequence data to playback the sample. This is just combining the sample funtion and then creating a sequence using the sample.

Now a continuous sample track is similar to an actual audio track. It does the same thing above...but when ever you stop a sequence, the sample will stop playing. If you start the sequence in a middle of a song, the sample will play from the middle of the sample.

How that makes sense.

Having multiple continuous sample tracks is like turning your MPC to a multitrack recorder. Even the MPC 4000 doesn't have that function.

thats what tracks 61-64 do.

i would still rather have the continuous sample tracks be on any track rather than just the last ones. meanwhile, unless i'm layering in noise/atmosphere, i'll probably still layer in the equivalent of continuous sample tracks in acid when i track out, at least until i get used to having them on the mpc. i'm very sequencer oriented on the mpc, still haven't started thinking of it like a multitrack recorder...

4 multitracks right now, soon to be 8...not bad. i'll be looking into this.

i'm a big control freak - i'd rather have the samples midi triggered so i can place em just where i want em rather than having a recorded sample track. i guess this is best for quick vocals, cuts, or just placing something by hand exactly where you want it.

mee too.

but 8 should be alrite for now...usually if i get more than 4 at the moment... i just assign the sample to a pad in a program..u know the drill.

but yea hopefully in the future it will be like the 2500 and be on every track.

Actually the MPC 2500 only has one continous sample track.

And these tracks should be considered more like audio tracks..vocals, guitars, or anything else one would use an audio track to record.
