cd turntables

Just copped one of these the other day. Absolutely love it. I have the technics cd player that everyone hates on. I think it's more of a producers cd-turntable myself. The flaws that the haters hate on are what I was attracted to. Basically has realtime timestretch (pitch lock) where you can slow down the tempo by 50% and keep the same pitch. The effects are kinda cheezy, but it does have HI-LOW and BANDPASS filters to extract certain frequencies., but enough about some of the the features. It's now simple to download music of the net and use it like wax. Spending money on rare records is now a thing of the past, and I can scratch just like it's the actual wax. I love this thing. No more buying needles, or needle skips when scratching. I'm a vinyl head to the fullest, and these new players made me a believer. Anyone else got/tried them lately?

There are a few other things I don't like about the Technics CD player... I mean, it was a good concept, good features, and it looks nice. But there's some fairly terrible delay that sucks for when you're doing some scratching. Also the inability to be able to manipulate the center of the "vinyl" because of where the screen was placed, is a big drawback, too. Oh, and the MASTER TEMPO feature you speak about is no big deal, they got that on the Pioneer CDJs. I'm a vinyl head, too, but the next thing I think imma cop is Rane Serato Scratch Live.

You notice a delay when scratching on the technics cd turntable?? I don't notice anything at all. I "heard" there was a delay from all the negative reviews, but using it firsthand, this is MUCH better than I expected. I went in guitar center to buy the pioneer cdj-1000. While waiting for the sales guy, I tried the technics. After about an hour of having so much fun, I had to buy them. I've been scrathing for the last 3 days on these thing. Maybe you tried an older model with an old operating system, but like I said before, there's no delay on the ones that I have. If it wasn't for 25 and 50 cent vinyl that we have here in Detroit, my 1200's would be collecting dust.
The Serato scratch is a beast also.. I was looking at that also.

Yeah there was some delay; it could've been an older model. I mean, not noticable on simple scratch patterns, but enough to throw you off on the faster, more precise scratches.... especially orbits (when I tested it). It is the best looking CD turntable out there, and I really anticipated it before it first came out, but it was kind of a let down.

I copped a Denon DNS-3500. I think it's dope as hell.

will they last as long as a regular 1200?

i have had mine for 20 someodd yrs and i never had a problem with them,
STICK TO VINYL it's a truer artform.

Just wondering what your take is?

I just own a 1200 for sampling. My deal is that I live in an apartment in Japan so space is a premium. I can't build a huge vinyl collection until we get a bigger place or my wife will kill me. For that reason I'm thinking another technics and scratch live for mixing or maybe even just some of the regular CDJ's.

I hang out at this tiny little hole in the wall bar over here which is full of music maniacs and they have both technics and CDJ's. People do a lot of creative stuff with those CD players, all sorts of crazy ass loops. Not your traditional turntable stuff, but mad cool none the less.

I just dig music. Record digging is an addiction. I wouldn't want to give up vinyl, but I'm not opposed to other stuff either if it sounds good. It's all about creativity to me.
