What's the purpose of getting a HD?

Hello.

Thinking of getting hard drives for my MPC's.
Is it faster to load samples etc from HD than from the CF?

it's not the speed (which isn't an issue).
it's the amount of starage you can fit on a hard drive that costs far less than a 2gb or larger CF card.

In that case I don't need HD's for my MPC's.
I'm using three MPC's to perform live and after all, you can only
fit 128MB in each of them anyway.

Just thought of getting HD's to be able to load the sets faster.

My impression is that the drive is much faster on the data than the CF.

True, but you could store way more and be able to delete/load new stuff during your set. Basically it would be like having all your kits, programs, and sequences saved on your hard drive and be able to access them easily. As opposed to having only what you could fit on a card or in the MP's memory.

I don't use one either, but this advice came from my homie who uses his live.

But are you really able to load, say, a new sequence and program while you are playing another sequence? That's impossible even with the HD, right?
