The long and elaborate answer is: No. If you want more FX, get an external FX unit or go the software route. However, if you want LESS FX, just switch to 96kHz and voila! Number of FX busses gets halved.

The fx in the MPC4k sucks,, trie to use as much other fx as you can..
Well maybe the distortion and pitchshift can add a nice grittyness to the sound, but as for the reverb and delay,s,,,,,,,,, my 30$ Zoom sounds even better.

The effects on the 4k are a little limited in comparison to other machines but with if you are running AKsys and vst plugins in wavelab or another sample editing prog then just dump from the 4k into the pc or mac with effects and then bring the effected material back into the 4k as a wav. The combinations are unlimited. Just apply a little effect to the already modified imported files and hey presto some realy mad drum or synth sounds.

would be nice if we could add in other fx cards, like that one that roland at for its multitrackers the waves one

Humm its nice to experiment with it, but for realy thight productions i always want full control over the mixdown.
To bad the fx on the MPC are that bad because i dont like outboard fx.

i supplemented the effects with a TC Electronic M300 for $199. it also acts as an unbalanced stereo 1/4" ADAC as well so you can send the signal digi coax. great delay and reverb unit, no power switch however.
i sample in from the unit and compress/effect what i need in the mix while leaving the MPC's effects dry so i can use them to master on mixdown.
