I still have not heard any reason to upgrade ?

Let me get this straight JJ wants US$30.00 for a MPC 2500 OS upgrade where you loose 3 fountions according to there website ?

yes, and there's absolutely nothign to gain from it!

Maybe JJ should just stick to there bootleg 1K OS.

it sounds like you aren't even aware of what this os offers. it has no new effects, and the only sample editing that it adds is for breaking up/combining stereo samples (a feature which many people in this forum have wanted).

the reason why the os is an asset is because it takes existing functions (qlink, grid edit, trim page, continuous sample, etc etc) further. it improves and adds on the original design.

I am not a kid with a new toy....I am an old man with a new toy. To hell with grid edit. Didn't need it with older MPCs..and don't need it now. I never enter that menu. Well, here is the feature request I made at the end of last year...

Come correct...or don't come at all. If the OS takes away from what is already there...hell naw will I install that in my MPC. You have my list. Tell your employer that these need to be added. If not, I am happy they way it is with just a slight modifications...that is to make sure that it is fully compatible with the MPC 2000/2000XL/3000. All features that those machines have, should be in the 2500. Then, I will need only one MPC versus two. But they do look good sitting next to one another.

There has been quite a few screen shots displayed on the JJ website/and some in the forums.

Okay, the 2500 OS page has been updated and there are some further infos regarding the features that are going to be dropped.

Apparently the channels 61-64 will be audio channels and their functionality will make up for the missing direct recording and continous sample track feature.

The other update is that even though you can't record directly from CD, it seems that the MPC will be able to rip audio tracks into wav format.

That's at least how I understood JJ's explanation

I v used jj's beta os on the 1000.....just seemed not as neet or eye pleasing as the akai's 2.1 but hey thats the way I feel

As far as the audio tracks being added, that's cool. It was high on my request list.

The CD functions are a little bit disappointing though. But ripping is cool but we already have that now. Has the burning features gone away? Does it still play/preview sounds from CD/DVDs?

it seems that some crucial functions in the jj os are missing, because they are developing from a mpc 1000 os, so the have to implement some functions rather than just modify them.
i would like to see them modify the actual os 1.22, because their knowledge seems to be good.
could only be better for us to have some competition for akai, because then they can proove their customer relationship by building a better os for free.

Well said. I actually do look forward to what may come, but I won't be the one to install it in my MPC. When/if you guys do install it...just keep a brother posted. I won't even hate....unless you are a 1000 user talkin in the big boy forum

You could always load the new one and try. If you don't like it go back.

Why wouldn't you try it? It CANT ruin it.
