I can access about 5 out of 100 beats on my hard drive and the ones I can access have to have programs loaded individually. When I save, it only freezes about 15% of the time. I love losing beats, it feels good to have a $1400 piece of trash sitting in front of me. I'm surprised I haven't thrown it through the wall yet.

Greatest purchase I've ever made.

I am glad I have my $1200 mpc ($1000mpc + hdd + ram + new os). I dont regret buying mine, it works like a champ. I got 4.01 os paid for though..

load only the sounds you need manually instead of programs.

When re-saving a beat you have loaded, just rename it to get around the directry error.

If your using JJ's OS thats your mistake, its way to buggy and your better off with akai's newest OS.

Thats how i use my 1k and ive been makin albums with it for almost a year makin moves man, you just gotta know how to use it

hahha WRONG, sorry this isn't even an opinion, it's simply a piece of misinformation.

I'm not so sure about this ... it is a matter of opinion, in my, err, opinion.

I have the JJ OS, and I like the new features. For me, the small stuff makes it more of a pleasure to work with. Having said that, I was doing OK with 2.1 too.

The new OS is still being debugged, and that's fine with me, but there probably are more bugs floating around in it than in Akai's latest. The difference is that these bugs are being squashed at a pretty good rate by JJ.

there is a difference between bugs: you can group em into performance bugs, feature bugs, and fatal bugs. hands down, the akai os has more fatal bugs, and more serious feature bugs than the jenius os. those are enough to justify the os as less stable. when an os can't save the way it should, we are not looking at a well coded os.

of course the OS 2 being better is my opinion. but wouldnt you think a coprate company who made the machine releasing an OS is more reliable than some OS made by "JJ"?
OS 2 being better than JJ's is certainly not misinformation, just an opinion made from trying both of them. peace

the mpc 1k is a great machine, with bugs like most music making equipment, but defenitly a great machine

Opinions cannot be wrong... that said, the JJ OS 4.01 is the same as the AKAI OS except that:

1. JJ OS has added features
2. JJ OS corrected some big bugs that were in the AKAI OS, particularly the DIRECTORY ERROR/Saving problems/SYSTEM ERROR/Data corruption issues that were causing many of us to LOOSE DATA. I would have paid $30 just for that bux fix, let alone all the other great stuff.

I don't understand how anyone could consider the AKAI OS to be better, but to each his own.

I am using JJ OS 4.01 and have not ran into a single bug or problem. IMO it is a superior and very stable OS that has brought new life to the MPC 1000.

if your saying its so stable why does it have an entire liste of bugs that need to be fixed.

your right though, no hate man, to each his own
