Thanks for all the tips guys... I just gotta get these "rules" on making music out of mind and just make it however I'm comfortable.

There are NO rules bro, be experimental, thats what makes it so much fun :wink:

The way I do it is record a snare hit first. I use the metronome by setting it to 1/8th, I hit the snare on the third hit. For example

1 2 SNARE 4 1 2 SNARE 4

After you have the snare recorded assign the loop to a pad and play it out. Not recording yet, just playing the pad over the snare and metronome and listening to how it fits. If the tempo is too fast slow the tempo down down, if too slow speed it up, do whatever you need to do. When you find a good fit simply record the loop with the drums. You could keep that snare or replace it with something else later.

Just one of many ways.
