Since no one else wants to be helpful...

Swing is a timing adjustment that you can utilize in most sequencers. Its particularly talked about and useful for drums because when you utilize timing correct or quantize on your sequencer it will set your hits on the exact beat you quantize to. Likewise, when you compose your own drumloop utilizing single hit drum samples every hit be corrected to hit exactly on its mark. The problem with this is that it can often sound robotic, there will be no human feel and therefore it will sound just like a drum machine and not like a real drummer. Swing is a function that offsets certain (sometimes random) hits by milliseconds (you adjust the swing on the MPC utilizing percents). You can offset certain hits either slightly later offbeat or slightly earlier offbeat. i.e. If you swing your hi-hats later by say 60% it will give them a slightly laid back feel as opposed to swinging them earlier which will give them a more upbeat and anxious feel.

Its all about creating the groove for your beat. By adjusting the timing slightly it can help you adjust what kind of groove your going for in your beat. Try it out and see for yourself.

Hope that was helpful
