I just mailed akaipro and asked them about how many units where manufactured.

haven't gotten any reply yet.

but at least I tried to ....

I know that Akai and Roger Linn made about 3000 mpc60 units.

So I 'v guessed If that had been revealed they could reveal how many units they made of the mpc2kxl...

I would think that the mpc2kxl is akai most sold unit.

yeah according to KEYBOARD MAGAZINE in the april 2003 issue that had an article in the vintageGEAR section about the Roger Linn/Akai MPC 60 said that the amount of manufactured units were : 3251 produced from 1988 to 1991.

Im not near my mpc now, but would the serial number of the machine give you somewhat of a clue? When i get home im gonna see what my serial number is. Sometimes manufacturers number their machines in the serial.
