how do u make a sample play only when the pad is down??

the title sais it all... i want to play only part of a sample when im holding the pad down, not have the whole sample play.. please help

Hold mode, then program(pad 7). When you get in the program, move the cursor down once, then hit the window button, this will bring up a screen that will allow you to change the pad of your choice from "one shot" to "note on", I'm not by my MPC right now but I believe when it says "note on" it will only play as long as you hold it down. Peace.

Yeah that's right. In program mode switch the sample to "note on" from "one shot". A sample should not loop without being in "note on" also.
