Well, for one, there are a bunch of new features that are still being changed and refined slightly. People worry about the "bugs" in the JJ OS, but they don't realize that the JJ OS bugs don't freeze up your MPC and/or cause data loss, they are just slight glitches (actually, I'm not sure I can think of any now that 4.01 is out...), but the AKAI OS bugs actually crash the MPC and/or cause data corruption which leads to lost files, etc.

Anyway, AKAI OS 2.1 is actually a pretty stable OS too, but the kicker for me was the saving and corrupt data problems. Other than that, I had no complaints with AKAIs OS, some 3rd party coder in Japan added a whole lot of stuff and kinda made them look silly, and he has way better support than they do. But now that's not really a problem with the OS itself.

I actually had/have no real complaints against AKAI... I was completely happy with my MPC and AKAI before the JJ OS came out, except for the corruption thing. I just think it's kinda funny that JJ did it better than they did.

I must have been hallucinating earlier when my MPC crashed over and over.

I'm running JJ's OS 4.01.

if you don't give any clues as to what you were doing, whether you could reproduce it, etc, we might have to believe that you were in fact hallucinating

Generally it's when I'm loading beats or samples.

My track mute button just broke too, anyone know how to fix that?

Before blaming the OS, you need to figure out what's going on. If it is freezing when loading or saving then your problem is that your card probably already has corrupt data on it caused by the last OS you were using. Backup your data, format your CF Card (or hard drive). Then copy all your stuff back onto it. Then you will be all good.

DrunkenMonkey wrote:I can access about 5 out of 100 beats on my hard drive and the ones I can access have to have programs loaded individually. When I save, it only freezes about 15% of the time. I love losing beats, it feels good to have a $1400 piece of trash sitting in front of me. I'm surprised I haven't thrown it through the wall yet.

Greatest purchase I've ever made.

Sounds like you need the new os 4.01 this will eliminate all your folder errors..... but as far as corrupted beats go... when they go they go..... :(

Sorry about your loss drunken. the best thing to do is

keep

pressing

on.

MAKE SOMETHING DOPER!!!!

In memory of your lost beats ill be bangin on the 1k for ya! 8)

when you do get the nerve to test drive the new os:

i STRONGLY suggest saving your mpc hard drive data to your pc.... all the corrupted data will sift thru. and save on your computer. reformat the harddrive on the mpc then put back the uncorrupted data back on the mpc....

in the end there is nothing you can do about the beats you lost bro.

its all about PREVENTION!

hint: label/name everything when you save!!!!!!

ex: there shouldn't be sample 1, sample 2, project 1, project 2, etc

SLOTH IS A SIN

hint2: (save all = no beats)

it'd be fun but it really wouldnt' say much.

although having the jenius os's grid control, my grooves have gotten 100% funkier.

If your using JJ's OS thats your mistake, its way to buggy and your better off with akai's newest OS.

Igorance is bliss make a statement like that when you have hard evidence that support it , and guess what you dont, so you took that out your ass
